Odissi dance hails from Orissa, a state located in the north-eastern coast of India.
This style is rich in beautiful poses inspired from the sculptures of indian medieval temples, particularly from the alasakanya, languid maidens depicted on the walls of orissan temples.
Feet are used to play different taal, or rhythmic patterns of oriya classical music, while hands and face convey a variety of emotions to narrate the stories of indian medieval literature.
Furthermore, learning Odissi dance can also be an interesting journey of self discovery, a longlife path that could support emotional, mental and spiritual growth.
